Mentorship Program
With an ever-increasing focus on law enforcement and public safety, it is crucially important to collect accurate, timely, and pertinent statistics that speak not only to the level of criminal activity across the US and its Territories, but also to the efforts of law enforcement to acknowledge, investigate, and solve crimes. The primary goal of this manual is to assist any State Program Manager (SPM) with the various UCR collections administered by their respective states.
For many SPMs, the first few weeks and months can be daunting: it may not be immediately known which UCR and state-specific collections their team is responsible for, nor are they likely to be aware of how or the conditions under which the data are submitted to their state program. The goal of this manual is to equip new SPMs and other state crime reporting users with the knowledge and resources necessary to effectively manage their state’s various collections.
This manual was authored – and is continually updated – by members of the Association of State Uniform Crime Reporting Programs’ (ASUCRP) Mentorship Committee.
